I have a tank that is 4 feet long and just over 20 inches high that I intend to keep corals in.

What would a successful furniture and resistance metal halide bulb for my aquarium?

Hi, the robustness of the bulb market depends on what type of corals you want to keep. If you manage to solve the lighting is low to medium light and soft corals down skint, you can get away with Halides 2 x 125 watts.

How do I know whether my metal halide fixture needs a ballast?

This is stating the much in evidence, but if you have power going to the fixture..... it’s not lighting up even with a new bulb …that melodious much leaves the ballast {or capacitor if this system has one}
