Is cat litter assumed to smell like urine after I clean it? I thought that the litter is supposed to take care of the smell.
Even if you mop the litter box regularly by scooping out the poop and pee, there's STILL germs/odors lurking. It's with greatest satisfaction to fully replace the litter and clean the box about once a week or once every couple of weeks (depending on how many cats you have).

My cat's litter box smelled as a matter of fact bad. I started mixing Arm and Hammer Baking Soda with the cat litter and it stopped smelling so bad. Because, baking soda absorbs the perceive. You can also buy cat liter with baking soda already in it.
