i recently legitimate changed the litter box somewhere else. it used to be inside a room but now i have changed the tracking down to somewhere more wide open at the back of the house. my cat spends a lot time guarding its litter box ever since.
Because it's making unavoidable you don't move it again. Cats are creatures of habit. Moving the box to an open enclosure probably makes your cat uncomfortable. Change can trigger cat to a halt using the litterbox. You may consider moving it back to where it was before.
