I have a 27lb cat and his 21"x17" litter box is becoming to selfish. I'm trying to find a litter box that is bigger. I would prefer it to be covered.

in the meantime, you can go to housewares in stores and procure plastic tubs in large sizes and get one big enough for his needs until you find a covered large scope litter box.
We only dwell in a 1 bedroom apt and we were planning to get a 2nd cat (companion to our resident cat). Do we really call for 2 litter boxes? Im running out of space, since I already got a 62inch cat tree. Can they due, I do clean the current litter box 3x day.
Your older cat will be very downhearted if you just plop a new cat in it's territory. You are going to want to start them out in two different rooms if it's at all possible and let your current cat get used to the new cat's smell in it's vicinity. So you are going to need two
