How much litter do i need for my 2 kittens litter box?

They have a big closed litter box, they even go there both at the same everything with no problem.

But i'm not sure if i put enough litter, i place enough to cover the bottom like half proportions of the box depth. The litter box is this one: http://www.tiendanimal.

I'd use a unique litter. Cheaper will smell no matter how often you scoop and clean out. I would put no more then 2 inches in the bottom and hollow out daily.

We are using wood stove pellets for litter (its cheese-paring too) and it works well for our cats.

Ok so my kittens will use their litter box sometimes, but they also like using out rocks on the back porch, the carpets, and even the stand in our dining room. Its getting ridiculous. any ideas on how to square them use the litter box only

Take them to the box, put them in it, take their foot and gash the litter with it. Do this every few hours. If they should use the bathroom some where else, show it to them and take them back to the box and repeat the scratching. They should catch on other, if not, I don't know
