Epilogue: Couple is thankful for help, but still homeless

With the temperature at hand 100 degrees and the mosquitoes biting and a sun that wouldn't let up, a young photojournalist approached Lonny and Nancy Aughe's van under the North 27th Street cross over.
She told them she worked for the newspaper and wanted to talk to someone about the July torridness.
The Aughes agreed to talk about the months they'd spent living under the join, and how they got there.
Days after the story appeared, strangers carrying cases of bottled the highest began showing up, wishing them well and telling them to keep cool.
Some brought insect developing or coolers full of ice, others brought dog food in 50-pound bags.
"It was categorically kind. It fed a lot of the dogs down there," Nancy Aughe said.
One woman even paid for a nightfall in a hotel room for the couple and their dogs. And that night, they had the best doze they'd had in a long time.
Today, the Aughes don't have to seek shade under the tie, but they're still in the van.
